It’s hard to find at home improvement stores, so I did a ton of research watching videos and checking reviews before buying.
It already had a great reputation, so I didn’t hesitate for a moment.
It’s MASSIVE. Absolutely enormous!
You can see a Makita cordless drill case sitting next to it — that gives you a sense of just how large this DEWALT tool box is.
In fact, the drill case fits right inside it.
I work in manufacturing, handling both electrical and mechanical assembly tasks.
After years in this industry, tools just keep piling up. What once fit on a single cart eventually became far too much to carry around.
After evaluating various tool boxes, I landed on DEWALT for its ease of use and how well it fits my workflow.

The ToughSystem Set consists of four units: one carrier (cart) and three tool boxes.

My Impressions
The DS Carrier feels extremely sturdy and has a premium look and feel.
The large wheels roll smoothly even on rough surfaces.

Here it is next to me for scale.
The handle is rubber-coated for a comfortable grip, and there’s a lock mechanism that lets you add a padlock — great for theft prevention. The thoughtful details really show.
The key feature is the slide-out storage: you can smoothly pull out whichever tool box you need without unstacking everything.
There’s a carry-case style version from the same brand, but this carrier is overwhelmingly more convenient since you can grab individual boxes without unpacking everything. Once you use it, you can’t go back.
There’s also a fold-down steel shelf, so you can use it for hauling heavy materials too.

This is the only box in the set with a hidden storage compartment inside the lid — perfect for small items like awls and pens.

It’s a convenient size for carrying around on site.
The inner tray is removable, which is a handy feature.
It’s versatile enough for most purposes, though it feels slightly small if you’re trying to store power tools.
Remove the inner tray and storage capacity increases significantly — even a drill fits easily. Being able to adapt the configuration to your needs is a real plus.
Compared to a standard tool box, it offers outstanding storage capacity without any issues.
I use this one for my electrical work tools.
A cordless driver fits inside in its case. I can also store a soldering iron, parts trays, work documents, and extension cords — all neatly organized.

Power tools fit with ease — it’s large enough to accommodate virtually any tool you’d need.
I store a jigsaw, cordless drill, five parts trays, consumable sprays, and construction gear all in this one box.
I intentionally leave some space free so I can always add more if needed.
メナI’ve seen people overseas store a full compressor in there — that cracked me up. The sheer size opens up some truly creative use cases.
How I Use It Day-to-Day
Something this large isn’t easy to haul to every job site.
My approach: I load only the tool boxes I need onto a separate cart and bring those to the site, leaving the ToughSystem Carrier at the shop.

Tool Boxes Stack and Lock Together
Each tool box has notches that allow them to lock onto each other when stacked.
This primarily prevents the stack from shifting during transport, which gives you real peace of mind.
Linked boxes can be lifted together as a single unit.
That said, stacking all three boxes at once creates staggering weight, so I mainly use the locking feature to stabilize the load during transport.
Doubles as an Impromptu Work Desk
Need to work on a laptop at a job site? You don’t need to bring a separate table — the ToughSystem can stand in.
Use the small box as a desk and the large box as a seat.
One Thing to Watch Out For
When opening a tool box that’s loaded onto the carrier, only the top box can be opened fully. The boxes below it are blocked.
So you’ll need to either remove the box from the carrier or slide it forward a bit each time you want to open it.
メナThis is a surprisingly annoying quirk in day-to-day use.
Solid Anti-Theft Features
The ToughCarrier has a built-in lock mechanism that prevents the tool boxes from sliding out accidentally — and you can add a padlock to secure them against theft.
A single padlock secures all three tool boxes at once — that’s an impressive design.
Of course, if someone makes off with the entire carrier that’s another story — but fully loaded it can weigh close to 100 kg, so walking away with it solo is virtually impossible.
That in itself is a pretty powerful theft deterrent.
