Cordless spray guns and blowers are the kind of tools that make you wonder, “Why didn’t I start using these sooner?” I (Mena) made the switch to a cordless spray gun after repainting my exterior fence and applying preservative to my wooden deck, and my painting time was cut in half.
The same goes for the cordless blower — after giving up on engine-powered models, it became a permanent fixture in my tool bag, and my job-site cleanup speed improved dramatically. In this article, I’ll introduce 10 models — spray guns suited for indoor painting and blowers for outdoor cleaning — in enough detail that you’ll feel like you’ve held each one in your hands.
メナSpray guns differ greatly in what you need depending on whether you’re doing “indoor DIY” or “professional exterior work.” The key to avoiding mistakes is clarifying your purpose before choosing.
How to Choose a Cordless Spray Gun or Blower
Spray Guns: Think Separately for Indoor Painting vs. Exterior Spraying
For indoor painting (ceilings, walls, furniture), light weight, maneuverability, and low overspray are crucial. Much of the work is in tight spaces, making HVLP or low-pressure models ideal for minimizing paint scatter. For exterior spraying (fences, outer walls, decks), you want to prioritize paint viscosity tolerance and wide-area coverage speed. Airless models truly shine here.
Blowers: Choose Power Based on Voltage
Voltage is the measure of power for cordless blowers. 18V is for light cleanup of home gardens and driveways. 36V and above is for serious cleanup across large exterior spaces and job sites. Whether you can share batteries with your existing tools also affects your overall purchase cost.
Top 5 Cordless Spray Guns
Graco Ultra QuickShot Cordless Airless Paint Sprayer

The first time I used an airless sprayer for exterior painting, I was amazed that my time with brushes and rollers was cut in half. It’s cordless so it’s easy to maneuver even on scaffolding, and I love the consistent pressure from Graco.
The Graco Ultra QuickShot is a battery-powered airless sprayer that requires no compressor. With a built-in pump that sprays liquid paint directly at high pressure, it requires minimal thinning and delivers outstanding efficiency for large exterior surfaces like walls, fences, and decks. Since it’s cordless, it works perfectly for scaffolding work with no extension cords or outdoor environments without power outlets.

Spray pressure is adjustable with a stepless dial on the body. Compatible with latex paint, oil-based paint, preservatives, and stain, it features a reversible tip that self-clears clogs just by turning it upside down. One charge allows approximately one hour of continuous spraying — enough to finish one side of an exterior fence (about 40 m²) on a single charge.

This model solves the traditional downsides of professional airless sprayers — “heavy weight” and “needing a power source.” One note: the paint cup is small (about 500ml), so you’ll need to refill more frequently when covering large areas. If you prioritize large outdoor surface finishing, this spray gun should be at the top of your list.

Graco Ultra Cordless Handheld Airless Paint Sprayer 17M363

When I used this for ceiling painting indoors, I was impressed by how it reached even the corners that rollers had missed. The biggest appeal is how light it is with no hose, so you don’t get tired.
The Graco Ultra 17M363 is a handheld cordless airless paint sprayer. Its light body weight and the complete absence of hoses and compressors make it excellent for tight applications like indoor ceilings, walls, and moldings. It also has sufficient pressure for repair painting on outdoor fences and wooden decks.

Spray volume is adjustable by how far you pull the trigger, and a flow control knob allows fine-tuning. The paint cup has a screw-on design for easy removal, making color changes and cleanup quick. When working indoors with proper masking on walls and flooring, there will be times the painting goes faster than the masking did.

The downside is that, as an airless sprayer, overspray (paint scatter) is more significant than HVLP models. For indoor use, we recommend masking a wider area around your work zone. This is the ideal choice if you prioritize achieving a professional airless finish without a compressor.

Longsafe Makita 18V/14.4V Compatible Cordless Spray Gun SPR03-BL

Since I already had Makita batteries, I could set it up with zero extra investment. It paints well for the price, and I’ve used it many times for painting walls in narrow hallways.
The Longsafe SPR03-BL is a cordless rechargeable spray gun that runs on Makita 18V (also compatible with 14.4V) batteries. It features a large 800ml tank and works with both water-based and oil-based paints. Spray direction can be switched between three patterns — horizontal, vertical, and arc — allowing you to paint walls, ceilings, furniture, and more to match the shape of the surface.

Particularly well-suited for Makita battery users — if you already have 18V tools, you can buy just the body and use it right away. It’s ideal for indoor painting (touch-up on tables, shelves, and partial wall repairs) and repainting small areas of exterior wood components (wooden decks and fences). For high-viscosity paints, slightly thinning with water stabilizes the finish.

The spray pressure differs from professional airless models, making it unsuitable for large-area painting like entire exterior walls. It’s the ideal option for indoor small-to-medium DIY painting, or for those who already have the Makita battery system and want to keep costs low.

WaxPar Makita 18V Compatible Cordless Electric Spray Gun MT-SG05

I used it for applying wood preservative to my wooden deck at home, and it was three times faster than brushing. The wide-mouth paint cup was also easy to clean, which I appreciated.
The WaxPar MT-SG05 is an electric spray gun compatible with Makita 18V batteries. It features a large 1000ml paint tank that lets you cover wide areas without stopping to refill. Compatible with major Makita 18V batteries including BL1815/BL1830/BL1840/BL1850/BL1860.

Spray patterns can be selected from horizontal, vertical, or circular, and a flow adjustment dial allows precise control of output volume. Well-suited for painting uneven surfaces and single-pass coverage of large areas, it excels at finish painting for wooden decks, wood fences, and DIY furniture. Water-based paints can be used as-is; oil-based paints should be thinned with the appropriate solvent first.

Since the primary target is general DIY users, it’s not designed for the continuous long-duration operation of professional job sites. The best approach is to use it in painting sessions with rest breaks in between. For Makita 18V system users choosing on value for money, this is one of the top contenders.

Orginer Cordless Spray Gun Makita 18V Compatible Electric Painter

When I repainted my garden fence and shed exterior all at once, this one tool handled everything. Being able to switch between line painting and surface painting by changing nozzles was very convenient.
The Orginer Cordless Spray Gun is an electric painter compatible with Makita 18V batteries. In addition to three spray patterns — horizontal, vertical, and round — it features a control knob that allows stepless adjustment of output volume. It’s ideal for the finishing stages of exterior painting like primer coats and finish coats on outdoor wood fences and block walls.

The nozzle is interchangeable, allowing coverage from fine line painting to wide surface coating. The paint tank has a wide-mouth design for easy pouring, and post-work cleanup is straightforward. Compatible with both water-based and oil-based paints, it covers a wide range of uses including applying preservatives, paint, and varnish to exterior materials.

The downside is that clogging can occur more easily if the paint viscosity is too high, so always check and adjust viscosity before use. Also, the motor can heat up during extended continuous use, so we recommend taking breaks every 10 to 15 minutes. If you’re a Makita 18V user who wants to try doing your own exterior painting finish work, this is an easy-to-recommend entry-level unit.

Top 5 Cordless Blowers
HiKOKI RB36DA 36V Cordless Blower Multi-Volt

The first time I used a 36V blower for leaf cleanup, I was surprised it was comparable to an engine-powered model. The noise is dramatically quieter, and I’m happy I can use it early in the morning without worrying about the neighbors.
The HiKOKI RB36DA is a Multi-Volt 36V cordless blower. With a maximum airflow of 800 m³/h, it achieves power comparable to an engine blower (28mL class) through electric power. It features 5 airflow settings, covering everything from delicate cleanup to clearing heavy autumn leaves and gravel from outdoor spaces — all with one machine.

The Multi-Volt battery (BSL36A18) works at both 36V and 18V, so it can also be used with other HiKOKI 18V tools, reducing costs through battery sharing. Continuous runtime is approximately 10 to 28 minutes with a 2.5Ah battery (depending on airflow setting). It’s best suited for clearing large exterior driveways and gardens.

The downside is that the battery and charger are sold separately, making the initial cost high. However, if you already own HiKOKI 36V/18V tools, you can use it immediately without additional batteries. If you want one serious exterior cleaning blower, the RB36DA is the top contender.

Makita MUB001GZ Cordless Blower 40Vmax

Since I started using the 40Vmax blower for exterior job-site cleanup, I can blow away even sand and small stones all at once. The cruise control feature keeps my hand from getting tired, and I can work efficiently across large sites.
The Makita MUB001GZ (equivalent to the older model UB001GZ) is a brushless motor blower compatible with 40Vmax batteries. It features a cruise control button that maintains a constant airflow without holding the trigger, greatly reducing hand fatigue during long exterior cleaning sessions. A boost function also delivers a peak wind speed of 64 m/s.

With IPX4 splash resistance, it handles light rain and wet environments. The included 3-section extendable long nozzle lets you maintain posture while clearing leaves and gravel from the ground without bending over. Weight is approximately 1.9kg without battery, and around 3kg with battery — a manageable size.

If you’re using a blower every day on construction sites or store exteriors, the investment in 40Vmax is well worth it. Since the battery and charger are sold separately, we recommend confirming running costs and the cost of a bundle purchase in advance.

Bosch Professional GBL18V-120H 18V Cordless Blower

The lightness and compactness feel very Bosch — you can pull it out of your tool bag and use it in an instant. I’ve switched all job-site compressor cleaning to this with my 18V battery.
The Bosch Professional GBL18V-120H is a professional-grade 18V cordless blower. With a maximum airflow of 120 L/min (7.2 m³/min) and maximum wind speed of 340 km/h, it delivers powerful blowing performance — useful for everything from blowing dust, wood chips, and metal shavings from around tools to clearing autumn leaves from outdoor spaces. The body-only weight (approx. 700g) offers excellent portability, making it a handy tool to keep permanently in your tool bag.

Sharing batteries with the Bosch 18V battery system means you can run it on the same battery as other Bosch pro tools like GBH/GSR/GSB. The included swivel nozzle (movable nozzle) lets you freely change the exhaust direction while cleaning, like an engine blower. Electronic speed control (EPC) changes airflow linearly in response to how far you pull the trigger.

Compared to engine blowers, maximum airflow is lower, but the 18V class is more than sufficient for light cleanup of tool areas, driveways, and outdoor spaces. It’s the best fit for professionals using the Bosch 18V system on-site who want to add a cleanup blower.

RYOBI BBL-180 18V Cordless Blower (Kyocera)

I use it for leaf cleanup around the neighborhood. I like how simple it is — just flip a switch to change between Hi/Lo, then grab it and go without overthinking anything.
RYOBI’s (now Kyocera Industrial Tools) BBL-180 is a standard model 18V cordless blower. With 2-speed Hi/Lo airflow switching, it handles delicate sand and fine debris sweeping on Low, and leaf pile-up and wet fallen leaf collection on High. Body weight is 1.9kg (including battery) — light enough to use one-handed.

Compatible with the RYOBI 18V battery system (B-18 series), those who already own tools from the same brand can share batteries. The included container nozzle can replace the standard one for improved efficiency when cleaning between gravel or along exterior curbs. Continuous runtime with a 5Ah battery is 35 minutes on Hi mode and 49 minutes on Lo mode.

For serious large-area leaf cleanup, you may find the power lacking compared to 36V or 40Vmax class blowers. For household garden leaf cleanup and light driveway cleaning, it offers the best balance of price and performance.

HiKOKI RB18DC 14.4V/18V Cordless Blower

My existing 18V batteries worked right away so no extra purchase needed. With 3-speed switching plus variable speed, I can handle everything from a delicate mode that won’t blow away flower bed soil to driveway dust cleanup — all with one machine.
The HiKOKI RB18DC is a cordless blower compatible with both 14.4V and 18V. Beyond 3-speed airflow switching, it also features a variable speed switch, allowing fine adjustment from gentle to powerful airflow. Its flexibility to cover everything from delicate uses like clearing fallen leaves from garden flower beds and potted plants to blowing dust from exterior concrete is a key feature.

Highly compatible with HiKOKI 14.4V/18V batteries, you can directly repurpose batteries from your existing tools. Body weight (excluding battery) is approximately 0.9kg — among the lightest in its class — making it easy to use one-handed for extended periods. An optional garden nozzle is available for exterior use, making it easier to collect fallen leaves when attached.

Power is inferior to 36V models, but it’s top-class in terms of lightness and maneuverability. It’s the ideal unit for an urban home with a small-to-medium property where a HiKOKI 18V user wants a secondary blower.

Summary: Best Model by Use Case
For spray guns, Graco Ultra QuickShot and Graco Ultra 17M363’s airless models are overwhelmingly efficient for wide-area exterior and outer-wall spraying, while Makita 18V-compatible cordless models (Longsafe/WaxPar/Orginer) offer an excellent balance of cost and maneuverability for indoor DIY spot painting.
For blowers, the HiKOKI RB36DA and Makita MUB001GZ’s 36V to 40Vmax class are best for serious outdoor cleaning (large driveways, heavy leaf fall), while the RYOBI BBL-180 and HiKOKI RB18DC’s 18V class are more realistic in price for light home garden and driveway cleanup.

With any of these models, being conscious of “battery sharing” can significantly reduce your overall cost. Choosing based on the brand you already own is actually the smartest approach.
